Toxic Industrial Chemicals in Conflict
This project requirement was to review and report on the unplanned and deliberate involvement of toxic industrial chemicals in areas experiencing tension or armed conflict.
SITUATION
Toxic Industrial Chemicals are widely available globally and used at all levels of society. An Inter-Governmental Organisation wanted to better understand the situation from the contexts of accidental pollutant or as deliberate weapons.
DIRECTION
Develop a global perspective of the scale and scope of the issues. Identify key themes for further analysis and develop actionable information for dissemination to internal working groups.
ACTION
Conduct a literature review and connect with key institutions for data share. Build a picture of the pollutant contribution to casualty rates and look for evidence of deliberate use in war fighting. Deliver a paper and present findings.
